Royal Ascot Tipping Challenge

Who is the Ascot Insider? and why would he accept a tipping challenge from the Royal Ascot Blog and The Longshot King

Well Twitter has allowed us to communicate with people that we do not necessarily know personally and since I started the blog for Royal Ascot I have been seeing people start to follow the blog including Ascot Racecourse.

So I thought what better way to have some fun during Royal Ascot 2010 than to lay down a fun challenge to Ascot Insider where we both give our selections each day and at the end of the week whoever is the loser will have to make a GBP 50 donation to the winners selected horseracing charity.

I am pleased to say the challenge has been accepted and both warriors have agreed that the charity that will benefit will be Racing Welfare who do a fantastic job behind the glossy side of racing, which is the side that you and I see most of.

Racing Welfare provide a 24 hour support line and housing project for people from the racing industry who have fallen upon hard times, along with other great initiatives to support racing in general. I really would advise you to take a look at their site and just see the tremendous work they are doing.

So back to the tipping challenge……..

Each day both myself The Longshot King and Ascot Insider will be selecting one horse each day either win or each way to one pound level stakes and at the end of the meeting the loser has to cough up the dough.

Day 1 Tips

Ascot Insider ELZAAM to Win in the 4.25

Elzaam runs a cracker for Ascot Insider but just gets pipped on the line by the Jolly

The Longshot King KLAMMER Each Way in the 4.25

Klammer runs a very decent race in 5th showing greenness yet again

So as you see from the tips above our two challengers have placed their tips on the same race which makes thing even more interesting. Could this possibly be fate ……..Exacta or Forecast…….we’ll just have to wait and see.

So two respectable efforts for our two foes there but unfortunately both start off with a minus

Day 2 Tips

Ascot Insider MAWATHEEQ to Win in the

Mawatheeq runs poorly after fighting for his head early and just runs out of Puff. Lets hope his tipster does not lack for the required stamina as we move onto day three.

NOBLE CITIZEN runs a cracker in 6th but yet again The Longshot King (Is he really) has another loser

Day 3 Tips

Well Ascot Insider has finally got some $%#% and has decided to finally tip up one at a respectable price.

The Longshot King EXCELLENT GUEST Each Way in the 4.25

So our duelists go up against each other head to head for the second time in three days. Will one of them pick a winner or even a place in the big 30 runner handicap. It certainly looks like two shrewd tips as both are drawn high which could be important.

Well as Ascot Insider said of White Devil after the race he now knows the reason why the horse was drawn 30, he was not there to win the race but did stop off at the Pimms tent for some mid race refreshment.

As for Excellent Guest from The Longshot King well this one was looking excellent 2 furlongs out but in the end was only a guest, finishing down the field.

Day 4 Tips

Ascot Insider ANNA SALAI Win in the 3.50

The Longshot King STEELE TANGO Each Way in the 4.25

Anna Salai waqs very well backed and i\m sure that Ascot Insider felt he had burgled a winner here especially with Frankie on board but the filly decided to up sticks and stop to put her make up on halfway through the race and lost valuable ground whilst doing so.

Steele Tango fizzed out of the stalls and took up a prominient position early on the shelf. As they turned for home the jockey decided to pull the ring can on this one but their was just no FIZZ.

Day 5 Tips

So here we go and down to the final day of The Royal Ascot Charity Tipping Challenge and both of  our tipsters have yet to get off the starting line. Who will come out victoriours and who will be dipping in their pocket and donating to The Racing Welfare Charity.
