Racecards

The Royal Ascot Meeting is a treasure trove of racing for the punting enthusiast and in 2010 the event spans 5 days with Top quality racing on each of the 5 days.

Tuesday 15th June see’s the opening day of the meeting with a highly competitive card highlighted by The St James palace stakes for the 3 year old classic generation and The King Stand Stakes for the top class sprinting fraternity where hopefully we will see the US trainers trying to plunder the prize after a successful meeting last year.

Wednesday 16th June brings us a cracking days racing with the highlight being The Prince of Wales Stakes where Aiden O’Brien will be looking to take the race with either Fame and Glory or Rip Van Winkle, however two fillies will also try their hand in Dar Re Mi and Midday.

Thursday 17th is a real spectacle of the meeting as this is Gold Cup Day and here we see the key Group Race of the season for stayers with the 2 1/2 mile trip sure to tax the most talented of horses. This year we will not have Yeats to entertain us but their are sure to be the new kids on the block including Kite Wood and Manifest who will be trying to etch their name in the Ascot echelon of Gold Cup winners.

Friday 18th sees a slightly less valuable but no more less competitive card and one of my favourite races of the whole meeting is the Coronation Stakes for 3 year old fillies and it will be fascinating to see if Special Duty runs afterv winning both her 1000 Guineas races earlier in the season (both on disqualifications)

Saturday 19th is the last day of the meeting and brings together some of the worlds finest sprinters for the Golden Jubilee Stakes which is the British Leg of “The World Sprint Challenge” including the likes of Marchand D’or from France, Britain’s own sprint queen Fleeting Spirit and a whole host of international challengers from USA, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland.

The whole 5 days will be fascinating and you can follow it here on the Royal Ascot Blog and all of my text updates on Twitter

All the best
